Carol has chosen the new colors for the 135th Color Hues.Challenge:

I purchased the Spellbinders Sunflower Serenade last summer but have never used it. I wanted a Clean and Simple card and it was just perfect. I die cut it from yellow cardstock and added some ink blending to the middle of the flower before adding the centers in two shades of brown (one of our acceptable neutrals.)

Two squares were cut with Ellen Hutson’s Essential Squares. A slightly smaller one from My Favorite Things Black and White Basics paper pack and one size larger from black cardstock. I miss MFT; their patterned paper packs are one of my favorites. After layering those onto a white card base, I added the sunflower with a square of dimensional tape.

The sentiment is one of Memory Boxes Gold Foiled Greeting Tabs. After adding the greeting, I wanted some gold with the sunflower. I tried a couple gold leaves, but they were too much, so I went with my favorite Pinkfresh Studio gold pearls.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your visit and your comments as well! I hope you’ll hop over to the Color Hues Challenge blog to check out the fabulous designs created by our team and our Guest Designers, Barbara Campbell and Diana K. We would love to see you add a card to our gallery. It’s open until 9:00 am on June 29th.
This card is off to Darnell’s NBUS and to the A Cut Above Challenge—Anything Goes with a die cut.

This card is simply stunning. The black & white back ground really make the gold sunflower pop. The little gold ball embellishments draw the eye to the texture of the petals. Perfection yet again 🙂
This is my favorite sunflower and I love how you’ve layered it and added it to the PP square! This is uplifting and perfect for a “thinking of you” card, my friend!
CAS and oh so pretty Karen!! I love that sunflower die too and should really get it out and show it some more love! And I miss MFT too and also have quite a few of their paper pads…their simple patterns always go so well with everything! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
What lovely detail on your beautiful sunflower – your DP is perfect behind it!
Your sunflowr is so beautiful Karen! I wonder if I have room in my craftroom for another sunflower! I really like the paper you chose to use. What a creative card!
Love that bold sunflower die cut sat on the black DP and surrounded by all that white, makes my CAS heart sing. 🙂
Just the perfect design to highlight that beautiful sunflower, Karen! It’s one of my favorites and it looks stunning against the lovely B&W patterned paper in the background. I too miss MFT’s paper packs; I am hoarding the ones I have left lol! Fabulous clean and crisp card, my dear!
So very pretty, Karen. I know you will be reaching for this die set often.
Your Sunflower Serenade sure sings for me, Karen. It certainly pops against the oh-so-pretty background you’ve created for it. Clean, simple and all-around sensational.
hugs~carol
