Jules has chosen one of my all-time favorite color combinations for the new Color Hues Challenge:
I have to thank teammate, Stef Perry, for the inspiration for this card. For our May 1st Color Hues Challenge, she posted a card with the Spellbinder Block Accent Arches. I immediately fell in love with them. It was part of a Spellbinder’s kit, and the arches were already out of stock. I put myself on the wait list, and when they finally arrived, I knew I would use them for this challenge. For the centerpiece, I’ll pulled out an old favorite from The Greetery, Best Bouquet Detals die. I have to say, I love how it all came together.
I die cut the leaves and guide for arranging the florals in black, adding flowers that I die cut and assembled from several hues of red cardstock found in my scraps bin. Then I die cut four floral pieces in metallic gold.
The original gold berries were too intense for the arrangement so I die cut one in red and slightly offset the gold. Much better. Not long ago I spent an afternoon with my foiling machine, so the Spellbinder’s Fancy Sentiment Strips banner was all set to go, foiled in gold on black.

Your bouquet is beautiful in the black/red with the bits of gold, Karen – and I love the arch framing! I can see why you sought it out and waited for it! I have this floral set and have only used it once – you’ve reminded me to get it out again and I’m going to go look for an arch die in my die box! Stunning, simply gorgeous and very striking in the black,white & red colours with the touch of gold. I tool like the arch die cut.
When at my Christmas in July card workshop earlier this week, we were making a card in red & gold & I thought of you “oh I know who would like this one!” (col)

Karen, This is such a striking card and one of my favs of yours for certain. The arch brings it to an entirely new level! Whomever recieves this for their birthday will feel extra special.

What a stunner of a card, Karen! Those blooms are glorious and I’m quite happy to be your enabler with those arch dies! They frame the spray so perfectly. I like the Color Block in black in white, so only the flowers are in red, with a gold edge. Beautifully done. I’m glad you finally got the dies. ; – )
The chequered border on that arch die is so impactful Karen and along with the dimension on those beautiful red flowers your card is truly stunning. A lovely addition to your collection. Thanks for having me as your guest designer for this challenge!
