2Peas Challenge for Thursday

We had a great trip to Atlanta, but this week has been crazed so there’s been no time for blogging. Found this challenge on 2Peas tonight and knew I could do this quickly. More later.

  1. My current favorite song: Anything by Allison Krause or The Waifs
  2. The last book I read: Name All the Animals–powerful
  3. What I’m wearing right now: work-out pants, tee, and sneakers—cause I did go work out!
  4. The last CD I bought: A Brief History by The Waifs
  5. The last gift I bought for someone: new clothes for Sarah who will be doing her clinical practice this summer after the wedding.

Spring Break

  • by

We’re off for a 10 day spring break and I am more than ready. Report cards went home with the kids today, and my plans are all set for the week after vacation. I have some reading to do for work, but I left the rest at school.

Usually we’re off for a week at Kiawah Island–a truly beautiful and restful vacation spot where I read and enjoy the sun, and Tracy and Matt golf. Last year my brother, Dane, joined us and it was great.

We’ve been going to Kiawah for 10-11 years and this is only the second time we’ve skipped the trip. We’re all going to miss it this year. But . . . Tracy and I do have a trip to Atlanta to visit Sarah to look forward to. We’re leaving Saturday and will be gone a week. It’s a fifteen hour drive one-way so we won’t get there until Easter Sunday. On our way home, we’re stopping in Charlotte, NC to visit with Tracy’s college roommate whom I’ve never met. If it’s a nice day, we may even get a boat ride around Lake Norman.

Tops on our lists to do in Atlanta:

  • time with Sarah; hasn’t been much of that this year
  • new golf clubs for Tracy from the PGA Super Store to replace the ones stolen in November
  • a trip to Archivers; the scrapbook super store (nothing like it locally)
  • a day at the new Atlanta Aquarium (while Sarah is in class and writing a sermon for the following Sunday)
  • shopping at Ikea and The Container Store; love these places, but you have to have a car to bring back the goodies so if we fly you can only purchase very small items. I have two large items I hope to purchase for my study/scrapbook room–one at each place.
  • time by the pool of our hotel (I hope). A little sun and warmth will be a welcome thing although this winter and spring in Rochester have been nothing to complain about!

I’m taking Renee Pearson’s digital designs for scrapbooking with me. I’ve had it for several months and don’t ever seem to have enough time to really work on it. Thank goodness for portable iBooks, and I don’t need an internet connection for this project. I’ll also be working on my Random Me:  A-Z class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. I’m going to need to take a lot of photographs for this project and hope to come home with a list of what I need to do.

Once we get home there’ll be only one month until Adam and Sarah’s wedding so it will be a very busy time. There’s so much to do here that one wonders if the trip to Georgia makes much sense. But we are doing the important stuff–time with Sarah, time with each other–the rest will take care of itself.

Love a Bargain

I had a terrible time finding an outfit to wear to Sarah’s wedding next month. Finally settled on a three piece crepe suit, a little dressier than I envisioned, but everyone who’s seen it thinks it’s perfect. Finding shoes was easier. I bought some nice Franco Sarto sandals at Lord & Taylor’s a week ago. Today while I was waiting for photographs to be developed, I stopped at Cohoes. There were the SAME sandals, my size, $20 less! Needless to say, the first pair are headed back to Lord & Taylor’s. Now to find a purse. . .

Random Me: A-Z

  • by

Here’s my little notebook for the Big Picture Scrapbooking course Random Me:  A-Z.  It’s based on Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s book Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life, which is a fun read. The week one project was to make this little notebook to record topics for our own encyclopedia entries. I used the new Scenic Route papers and stickers which I’ve purchased for the scrapbook project as well. This one is going to be fun.

Sarah’s Shower

  • by

My friend, Tina, hosted a wonderful bridal shower for Sarah Saturday. She and Adam received such lovely gifts, and everyone seemed to have a great time. Wonderful food and great company. Plus it was so nice to have Sarah and Adam here—if only for a day.

I altered little notepads from Target as favors for the shower.

Sarah’s Aunt Evelyn sent these beautiful flowers. The bridesmaids will be carrying flowers like these in just two months!

Such a happy time!
