It’s my turn to be the hostess for the new Color Hues Challenge. I have to admit my choice of Green and Gold was somewhat selfish since my husband has a St. Patrick’s Day birthday,

In the past, I’ve created birthday cards with a shamrock theme, but this year, I pulled out an older cover plate die from Pinkfresh Studio, Geo Tiles. I die cut the coverplate in metallic gold and adhered it to a bright green card base.

Once that was done, I decided it needed some more interest, so I inlaid a few of the gold diamonds and added a few black pearls. The foiled sentiment from Ellen Hutson’s Birthday Vibes was conveniently found in my stash of prepared sentiments.

I hope you’ll find some fun ways to create with this color combination, and join me, the Design Team, and our Guest Designers, Darnell Knauss and Donna Phelan, by adding a card (or two) to our gallery!
Ah, I think it’s great that you thought of hubby’s St. Patty’s Day birthday when choosing these colors, Karen! Happy Birthday to him! You have made him a cool graphic card in bold green with lots of gold and I love how you added the black bling. It reminds me of cufflinks! Hugs, Darnell
Happy birthday to your hubby and I loved working with these colors, Karen! I love the geometric look and I’m impressed with how perfectly you got all those thin lines glued down! Fantastic!
Karen thank you for choosing green and gold, a perfect combination for March. So smart of you to choose these colours so that you could make a birthday card for your hubby on his St. Patrick’s Day birthday. Your design is so elegant and masculine–I love it!
I love your graphic style cards Karen and this is a doozy. The inlaid diamonds were an inmspired addition along with the little black gems. I’m sure your hubby will love it, wish him a happy birthday from me. 🙂
What a striking birthday card for Tracy – how lucky is he to have such a creative wife. (col). The green & gold make this a stand out card.
Oh this is perfection! Love that beautiful cover plate (and all things PFS!) Great idea to back it with gold, it really POPS! So striking!
You always make the best guy cards Karen, and this one is FABULOUS! Our youngest and middle daughters both have March birthdays, and since I have that same die, I think you’ve given me a great starting point for their cards…thank you!! A very happy birthday to the hubby and I’m sure he’ll love your card just like I do!! And thanks for such a fun challenge!! Hugs. :0)
One of my favorite cover dies and you’ve again shown how versatile it is, Karen! This is a gorgeous card for Tracy and I’ll be he’ll appreciate the change up in themes. (I’m pretty sure he loves all your cards for him!) I love the pattern you created with the selective inlay of the gold. Thanks for the great color combo, it was fun to create with!
Karen, I know the gallery is going to be amazing over the next couple of weeks. Wonderful masculine card and you have the best supplies! I don’t know if you recall but my hubby’s birthday is the 16th.
First, thank you for the wonderful colour combination that’s laden with possibilities.
