New Card Challenge

  • by

CPS has Challenge 104 up sponsored by PaperTrey Ink. Since I'm loving my new PaperTrey stamps, it was a fun challenge to try.

EnjoyToday

Paper, stamps, and ribbon all from PaperTrey.

Sarah brought me a set of tags from Paper Source at Christmas time. I wanted to use them to create a tag book for the year. Cathy Z designed the journaling cards specifically for these tags. I finally got around to getting the cover and the January tag done. Just a few more days and I can start the February page!

Yellow Day 5

  • by

My search for yellow extended to the grocery store today. Although there were many more things to photograph, here are three:

Sunflowersw

Good for the soul on a cold, winter, very windy day.

Lemonsw

I brought three of these babies home with me.

Squashw

And none of these came home. Cheery though they may be, squash is not a favorite of Tracy's.

And a final one from the bulletin board over my desk.

DreamStarw

I finished making the new kitchen curtains today, but not without a bit of excitement. About 2/3 of the way through the project, I was standing at the ironing board when, all of a sudden, I heard a strange sound coming from my sewing machine. I looked over and smoke was pouring out of it! The smell was awful; clearly there was a short of some kind. When we took it to the repair shop this afternoon, the man said he rarely see a Viking machine with this kind of issue. Not heartening. He'll have an estimate on Wednesday, but I am going to be pricing new machines before then. I love my Viking, but it will soon be 29 years old, and probably needs to be replaced. Thanks to my friend, Debbie, the curtains were finished at her house on her machine.

Yellow Day 4 & A New Project

  • by

I've been wanting new kitchen curtains for several years but haven't found anything I like. Recently I found a plaid curtain at Country Curtains I liked very much and ordered them. Unfortunately, when they came they weren't quite right. The fabric was great, but the header was too big and the valences too long. So I returned them and ordered the fabric. I can't remember the last time I made curtains–over 20 years! But it came back quickly. The first valence is finished, and all the panels are cut and ready to sew. I realized my handy tape measure is a bright yellow color so here's #4:

Yellow

  • by

I found this photo project yesterday morning before we left for Ithaca. I thought it might give me a new focus for the week. Actually there isn't a lot of yellow in this house–lots of red and blue, but not much yellow. Anyway here are photos for Days 1-3:

Happy Valentine’s Day

  • by

This was my father's favorite holiday. I know lots of folks who think it's so commercialized, and they are right. Nonetheless, it remains a favorite holiday of mine as well. We exchanged cards, chocolates and flowers today, but our big Valentine gift to each other is two tickets to see Jersey Boys on the 26th. We're playing bridge tonight.

Here are some of the valentines I made this year. Everyone but Matt has theirs. He'll get his on Tuesday when we go to Ithaca to spend the afternoon and take him out to dinner.

Card-a-licious Challenge 13

  • by

I had a lot of fun making the challenge cards recently so here's another one from card-a-licious. I didn't have room for "Thanks" on the outside, so I left the inside blank so I could write a thank you note.

Hiw

This weeks challenge–make a thank you card using something
felt, some sort of stitching and use the color pink.

Another card challenge:  three patterned papers and orange letter stickers. Not my usual, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Project 365: Week 6

  • by

I wasn't planning to do another all digital page, and I certainly didn't expect to do a landscape layout, but that's what I did. I got into it and decided to finish it. Like all digital layouts, I have mixed feelings about it. Next week will be another two-pager! All this digital practice, however, is paying off as I didn't have much difficulty with it.

Introducing Bitty Dots

  • by

Every day Papertrey Ink introduces a new product prior to their monthly release. Because this is their second anniversary, there have been all kinds of special announcements and new releases. Today was the introduction of polka dot papers and ribbons. I love polka dots, especially the itty bitty ones. So here's a card for today's challenge which was based on a dot-to-dot sketch.

PtiChallenge

Products: Papertrey raspberry fizz paper and ink. A flower from their Floral Frenzy set, and a patterned paper from the Black and White Basics collection. The "love" stamp which I've had for ages has no company identification on it.

Cards and a Challenge

  • by

Although I have a long list of layouts I want to do, I don't seem to have had much motivation for scrapping recently. I have been keeping up with the card-a-day project I hoped to do this year. Some days I make several; most days I make at least one. Today's card is for a challenge at Papertrey Ink, my favorite stamp company.

Since I had all but one of the cardstock colors I decided to join in. Here's my "entry."

And a few others I've made recently. (All my valentines are made, but they can't be posted until after Valentine's Day.)

HappyBirthdayCirclew

I'm not so happy with the sharpness of this photo, but the card is already in an envelope for my niece's birthday. This is another Papertrey Ink card–new stamp set (so versatile), raspberry fizz cardstock, and
Black & White Basics patterned paper.

Three cards with the same recipe.

A birthday card for a friend.

And, finally, another card with the Round And About stamp set from PaperTrey.

Project 365 Layouts: Weeks 4 & 5

  • by

It was a good day. I finished two hybrid layouts, both using the same template I downloaded for free from KylieM Designs. It worked well with both sets of photos which really didn't require any journaling. Since I caption all the photos in the photo blog, I feel less compulsive about the journaling here. This was a layered template which I find much easier to use than the frame I used for Week 3. After it was done, I resized it to 8X8 and put it on cardstock. I'm a much happier girl with a little texture and a bit of embellishment.

Week5LOw

After a session on the treadmill and a yoga class, I took off with my camera to Powder Mill Park. I'm not sure I got any stellar shots, but I'm enjoying the switch to manual mode and finding it easier and easier to set both the aperture and shutter speed. Not as quickly as I'd like, but getting there. I'm so sick of being inside, it was great to spend some time in the outdoors. Hopefully the photos will get edited tomorrow.

Project 365: Week 5

Here are my two favorite photos from this week. The rest are posted in the Photo-a-Day log on the sidebar, although four of them don't show up on the calendar. I don't have a clue why that happened and have sent a ticket off to Typepad for some help.

I'm buying pears every week. I have a great new recipe for baked pears with craisins, walnuts, and blue cheese. Delicious!
