It’s my turn to be hostess for the new Color Hues Challenge and I chose:

When I decided on this pairing, I know I had something specific in mind, but when it came time to create with it, I had no idea what my inspiration had been. But, it really didn’t matter once I pulled out a very old favorite, Papertrey Ink’s Lovely Layers stamps and dies. I paired it with a brand new (to me) product, Spellbiner’s Molded Frame 3-D Embossing Folder.

I’d forgotten how much I love this stamp and die set. Once I chose the cardstock (pieces from my scrap boxes) it came together quickly. I die cut each shape and then gold embossed the patterns. There is a stamp for the smallest piece in the design, but I really didn’t care for it this time. I die cut a new one, and added three tiny gold pearls with a piece of dimensional tape instead.

Once the design was assembled, I added it to the Molded Frame die cut from watercolor paper. The Lovely Layers design fit perfectly. The sentiment is from an old favorite Pink & Main’s Special Day sentiments.

Be sure to check out how the Color Hues Design Team interpreted these colors, as well as our wonderful Guest Designer, Rachel Ball. I’ll be anxious to see your creations and I hope you’ll fill up the gallery!
This is a stunning card. Like the colour combo a lot. You nailed the colour comb challenge. The 3D frames are a winner for any card theme. I am attending my first foiling card workshop mid August – I’m excited to try my hand at foiling. The workshop leader is using the new Stampin Up foiling system. 🙂
This is so classy, Karen! The gold embossing give it such and elegant look and this frame is perfect for it! Great colors and card!
So striking Karen, the gold embossing looks like embroidery stitches until you focus in. A very classy creation. 🙂
You have no idea how many times I have picked a color pairing and then forgot what I was going to do with it. 😂 This turned out so pretty that I don’t think it even matters at this point. You make exquiste CAS cards.
What a gorgeous card Karen! I had forgotten all about this PTI set until I saw your card, and now I’m going to have to go look for mine! It turned out perfect with your chosen color pairing, which is absolutely beautiful IMHO!! I am loving that molded frame ef too…mine has been getting quite a workout! Hugs. :0)
Karen, you’ve landed on a gorgeous design no matter what your original idea might have been! I’ve loved used your wonderful color combo! It even caused a bit of shopping for cardstock – I didn’t think I had one bit of teal!

Karen, your card is the epitome of elegance! Not remembering what you had in mind perhaps was a happy accident, because the die and stamp set you used looks like it was made for this color combination. Such a gorgeous card!
Your card is absolutely stunning! The gold is perfect on the rich teal and navy. Plus the simple and classy background is perfect for the design. What a great colour combo – thanks!
Stylish and exquisite, Karen. Your lovely layers are, indeed, precisely that. The framing is a pretty special touch.
hugs~carol
