Color Hues #141

Welcome to a new Color Hues Challenge:

Sheri has chose a wonderful color combination, and I had a lot of fun with it.

As you can see, the purples I chose are more toward blue than pink. I think purple may have one of the widest ranges of hues. I did experiment a bit with the purples, but I had a larger selection of inks to choose from leaning toward the blues.

Once again I went rummaging through my Pinkfresh Studio collection, and came upon another product I received for a Create and Connect event (August 2025) but never used. I wasn’t particularly inspired by the samples for this product, but I am a huge fan of it now.

Pinkfresh Studio has some of the best stencils in the industry. I chose four purple inks and one green to color this stunning Chrysanthemum Bloom image. Once the stenciling was done, I die cut it as well as die cutting the image from a sheet of fun foam for dimension. It’s been a long time since I used that technique and it worked wonderfully.

You can see that dimension here in a closer look. The sentiment strip is from Altenew’s One Go Birthday Greetings and added with a piece of thin dimensional tape.

Please check out the Color Hues Blog for lots of inspiration from the Design Team and our Guest Designer, Amanda.

We’ve been out of the country for the last two+ weeks. It was a fabulous trip, but I’m always ready to get back into the craftroom when I return. So many ideas. . . so little time! I’m sending this card off to three challenges: Seize the Birthday: Add a Sentiment Strip, Stencil Fun, and the September Pinkfresh Studio Challenge: Anything Goes.

  1. A most beautiful card. I like the shades of purple & the way the petals are lifted off the background through the shading. You are a master card maker!

  2. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL card Karen! I love all the shades of blue-ish purple you used and those giant leaves…sooooo pretty! Love the dimension too! Lovely, lovely card my friend! Hugs. :0)

  3. Wow, Karen, I agree about the stencils if this is anything to go by. What a fabulous bouquet of Chrysanthemums. I think of my late Dad when I see them, he had serried ranks of various colours in the back garden and would disappear to the local allotment to swop cuttings with his buddies! Thanks for the happy memories. 🙂

  4. This is gorgeous Karen! You chose a perfect combination of shades. I see you’re in our STB challenge too. Thanks so much for using my Topping!

  5. I love that you used so many shades of purple on your beautiful mum’s, Karen! Adding the foam to make the flowers float works so beautifully. I need to remember to use that technique. I know what you mean by so many ideas and so little time. Even without traveling that seems to be the case.

  6. Karen, your stenciling colors really make this floral image shine. The varied purples help the petals stand out from one another. Love the dimension from the fun foam too – alot better than fussing with cutting skinny pieces from foam tape. Such a gorgeous card. I hope you’ve had a wonderful time traveling!

  7. This is the prettiest card I have seen with this set, Karen. I love your shades of Purple and don’t think they look blue at all. This is now on the long list of one of my favs of yours for sure.

  8. Another great card. It’s so realistic.
The colour choices made me smile. My mind went down the veg aisle to aubergine/eggplant and artichoke…but i realise that this might have limited the allowable shades! 🙂

  9. Karen, your Chrysanthemum Blooms are simply spectacular: big, bold and all-around stunning, especially with this colour combination. A WOW in every way.
    hugs~carol
